"Obama proposal for longer school time raises questions in Berks County By David Mekeel Reading Eagle  [/]
[]President Barack Obama wants to see American students spend more time in school - but at least two Berks County school officials aren't so sure his plan will work.

The president and Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan have said they're in favor of extending the school day and school year to help students prosper in an ever-more competitive world.............................."[/]

well, here it is, more taxes, more problems with the children, less time at home, more brain washing time.  sounds like what we talked about in the 70's, about the government wanting to take over the job as parent.  It is no wonder that many more children are being home schooled..... GO PARENTS....

it also seems now with all the extra stuff that is being forced on the teachers to teach, the kids are burning out and more and more kids are on some unneeded drug..... that is not doing them any good, other then killing the bodies systems.... perfectly normal children being drugged so they are robots.

also seen where there a school had the children singing praises unto the pres...... sound a little familiar? anybody remember a country about 70 - 80 years ago, doing something very similar? like Germany......

Look around the world and see what the other countries are doing.....
some countries, do not even have school for kids, while others are really going overboard.....

there is more to learning then sitting in a classroom, there is also the need for the children to get up and PLAY... they also learn from playing.....

I'd be interested to know how schools work in other parts of the world. Here in Australia, it is different in each state to some degree, but mostly schools operate 9am-3pm Monday -Friday. We have long (around 6 weeks) school holidays over the Christmas/January period, then 4 terms per year with shorter (around 2 weeks) holidays in between. Mostly kids start school around the age of 5 or 6, and have 6 years of primary school and 6 years of high school.

blessings,

Lynn
